Headline: Why some Democrats say: Don’t sleep on ‘Mayor Pete’ Buttigieg

I choose to read this article because I think that it is incredible that the media is already starting coverage of the 2020 campaign trail. While I know that this is normal, I think it is interesting to look at all the candidates that are running to be the Nominee. I think the most compelling part of this race so far is the fact that the tables have turned for Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans in the last primary election were numerous. This time around there are many democrats that are fighting to be the Democratic Nominee. I think that this article is interesting because it features one of the candidates.

I think that this article works really well by setting up a slight overview of who the candidate may be. Yet, instead of stating that Buttigieg is a list of things, the article starts by comparing him to Trump. They begin with the first couple of paragraphs stating who he is in comparison to Trump. I think that the article works in structure as well. The article starts by talking about the interesting aspects of Buttigieg and his campaign. Then it flows into the reasons that his campaign is going to struggle this year. I though that the flow worked because of the fact that the interesting things draw the reader in, but the other information is just as important. I, personally, really struggle with structure and I thought that was something that the piece did very well.

I think that the article could have been better had they included some information about his time as Mayor of South Bend. As a reader, when hearing about the positive qualities of a politician, I also want to hear about the concrete actions that the politician has taken that make him worthy of candidacy.
